Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, the masterminds behind their luxury designer label completed 33 years in the fashion industry just recently, and the duo hosted a fashion show celebrating their work in Mumbai. They invited quite a star-studded guest list, from Bollywood celebrities, business tycoons to socialites and major influencers in the country.
Many Bollywood personalities were present at the celebration, amongst them were Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman, Twinkle Khanna, Rinkie Khanna, Karan Johar, Shanaya Kapoor, Sunita, and Rhea Kapoor, Isha Ambani, Shloka Mehta, Radhika Merchant, Sonali Bendre, Sussane Khan, Bhavana Pandey, Natasha, and Adar Poonawalla, Samyukta Nair, Anaita Shroff Adajania, and others.
But out of all these A-list stars in their glitz and glam, it was Deepika Padukone who shone the brightest! She was the showstopper for the show and wore the piece de resistance ensemble, “The Circle of Life” ghagra at the ramp!
Deepika wore a bespoke ivory lehenga, featuring intricate karigari, sequin embellishments, and gota work. She paired it with a plunging neckline blouse, which was adorned with intricate designs and embellishments. The blouse also featured an embellishment collar which gave the illusion of a stunning necklace on the diva’s neck. She rounded it all off with a gorgeous ghunghat which featured a long train. Deepika removed the dupatta after her walk and draped it on her hands. She styled the look with large hoop earrings and a sleek middle-parted bun. For her glam, she went with dewy base makeup and nude brown lips. With stunning smokey eyes, dramatic lashes and highlighted cheeks, Deepika transformed herself into a glam bride!
With its ‘right-on-the-beat’ playlist and blingy set-up, the fashion show was a real nostalgic journey for the label’s very beginnings with a cheery collection named ‘Candy’, followed by new creations celebrating the art and craft of Chikankari, and debuting MARD by the designer duo’s first menswear line. What made the presentation all the more special was its models. The duo managed to bring together some of India’s most loved fashion faces on their runway, including Sheetal Mallar, Carol Gracias, and Anna Bredemeyer, among others.
Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla talked about their vision and celebration of the collection at the show. Reworking of classics was seen in their range like the Anarkali, playing with fabric and unleashing its potential for volume and layering, and the use of impeccable embroidery and dazzling embellishments to set the surface of an ensemble afire with beauty. Ever since their first show, Abu and Sandeep are renowned for their extraordinary and abundant use of color.
The duo also paid homage to the beauty of monochrome. The impossible elegance of black visualized through their own eyes. And then finally came the pristine power of their most cherished hue, in an explosion of ensembles in fifty shades of white.
In an overview, the signature evening weaved a beautiful tale, and each tale met the next to form one captivating journey!
