He has a wide celebrity clientele from Hollywood stars like Rachel Wiesz, Eva Longoria, Rosario Dawson, Carmen Electra to pop stars like Avril Lavigne, Toni Braxton to Bollywood stars like Deepika Padukone,Kareena Kapoor and the like. His elfish like silhouettes replete with fluid drapery, scrunching and pleating techniques, innovative couture textures evoke surreal imagery.
His designs have eclectic use of materials and moods – soft and hard, fluid and structured, matte and gloss, vivid and dark, demure and aggressive. Still in this cacophony of different elements, he manages to put them all together effortlessly in harmony as a collection.
His collections have a unique character that is very inexplicably yet inimitably ‘Amit GT’.
Amit showcased his latest SS’20 range in the Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week runway with Geospa on Day 3 which was inspired by Japanese Sumi-e paintings that depicts regional landscape. The designer created this year’s collection that brings the allure of calla lilies and water lilies with often birds as subjects. The technique of using ink with brushes as medium in Sumi-e art has been translated into hand embroideries that look like variegated linear strokes as they’re used in Sumi-e.
Hand braided floral details, embroideries that look like brush strokes and surreal imagery used in gowns and dresses are the highlights of this collection!
Everyone seemed to love his understated yet dramatic ivory gown that was angular, asymmetrical, and marked by crisp cuts. The attire had sheer accents and the bow notched up the model’s attire. The second ensemble was a purple-hued gown that was sleeveless and tiered. This gown was accentuated by meticulous floral accents, perfect for red carpet events.
In a very short span of time, designer Amit GT has dressed a bevy of Hollywood and Bollywood stars and celebrities. Today his line is available in luxury boutiques in Europe, Middle East and Far East.
