The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/ Festive 2019 is all over the Instagram stories, organized jointly by Lakme, the no.1 cosmetic and beauty services brand in India and IMG Reliance Pvt. Ltd., leaders in sports, fashion and entertainment marketing and management at St. Regis, Mumbai, Maharashtra from 20th August 2019- 25th August 2019.  With a vision aiming to ‘Redefine the future of fashion and integrate India into the global fashion world, Lakme Fashion Week provides a platform to ace designers to showcase their latest collection. 

The designer Pallavi Mohan showcased her latest collection “Simply studio 54” which was an inspiration from Manhattan’s nightclubs and discotheques from the 1970’s. The collection was drenched in shimmer adding feminine glamour to the silhouettes. ‘The Still Life’ showcased by designer Sonal took us back to the 17th century’s famous painter Jacques Linard whose art work were transformed into the garments. 

The ‘Not So Serious’ designer Pallavi Mohan and the ‘Rara Avis’ designer Sonal tried to bring out glamour on the ramp. The extravagant and blink composition walked through the hearts and made all feel nostalgic about the famous fashion of embellishments and structures. 

The collection at LFW 2019 ‘Simply Studio 54’ was an inspiration from the retro style of the 1970’s era which was extravagant and full of charismatic styles. The show combined the stellar combinations of glitters and voluminous silhouettes. The handcrafted techniques and usage of appliqués along with scattered embroidery stole the show. ‘The Still Life’ collection by Sonal was an inspiration from 17th Century which added shapes to effortless fashion statements. 

Imitating the retro mood and feel, the backdrop experienced the shiny structured balls. It was an experimental collection produced by the designer which revolves around the jewel tones of colors like emerald, turquoise, deep crimsons, ivory, warm beiges, royal blue and silver hues. The strong and solid color palette like hues of tan, midnight black, charcoal and ocean blue along accents of fringes were used by Sonal in her collection ‘The Still Life’. 

The show opened with the feathered hemline from ‘Simply Studio 54’ with sheer fluid dresses and liquid look surfaces. Embracing the looks of retro, silhouettes like jumpsuits, draped gowns, blouses and pants added the touch of romantic experiences. ‘The Still Life’ collection was balanced by leather for shawl collars, blazers, pant suits, jackets, halter maxi, flared gowns and asymmetric gathered dress added the layers to the structured dressing of silhouettes. Trench coats along with cropped pants and kimono style dress along with embellishments added glamour to the walk.

Esha Gupta closes the show for Pallavi Mohan in silver slinky high slit gown with tints of royal blue. She kept her makeup minimal and in nude tones along with high pony tail and feathered trail. She complimented her look with a pair of studs and satin blue belt. The model/actress looked mesmerizing and fascinated everyone with her romantic look.

Each outfit was a resplendent beauty which combined different handcrafted techniques of embroideries. The scintillating sequins, splash of crystals and encrusted feathers brought out the mystique and alluring appearances. The designer tries to dip the contemporary silhouettes into the blink of 1970’s fashion aesthetics. Glittering theme which inculcated the abstract shapes and sequence patterns were experimented with different styled silhouette. The makeup was kept bold and raging to bring out the emotions of an individual of being bold and confident. The show was full of flicker, drenching each outfit with classicism, femininity and individuality.
