The Lakme Fashion Week just drew to a close but we’ve held onto some of the most glamorous collection spotted on day 5 of the Lakme Fashion Week winter/festive 2019. Disha Patil, Punit Balana and DiyaRajvvir opened the last day of the week, with all things glamorous, perfectly setting the tone for the upcoming festive season. The collections embodied luxurious and dreamy like ensembles for the new age bride.
Designer Disha Patil showcased her new collection ‘The Interpretation of Love’. The collection featured bridal and occasion wear, with a luxurious appeal and timeless elegance for the new age bride. Inspired by Turkey its grand architectural beauty and art, the collection was elegant with classic tailoring and attention to extreme detailing. A pastel colour palette defined the collection, and the outfits were heavily embellished with a vintage appeal, making it an ideal choice for all bridal festivities. Disha worked some Ottoman architectural symmetry into the collection and the embellishments were ornate, lavish and opulent.
Adding glamour to the shoulder and neckline of the garments were origami drapes with intricate detailing. The collection featured lehengas, cholis and dupattas in various forms. From symmetrical long cholis and off-shoulder tops with pants and skirts, to gowns in a wrap silhouette and petaled tops teamed with wired dupattas, the ensembles were bold, daring and dramatic. She perfectly blends modern silhouettes with traditional ensembles.
Disha chose B-Towns original ‘Queen”, Kangana Ranaut, to close the show. Kangana dazzled, as she owned the ramp in a powder blue lehenga with intricate silver work and a stunning off-shoulder blouse. The look was completed with dramatic eyes featuring eye shadow in hues of blue.
Romantic and elegant, this collection is ideal for the modern brides as they take their vows.
Taking the theme of glamour forward was Punit Balana’s collection ‘Rabari’, which was an ode to textiles and amazing embroidery created by the Rabari women.
Staying true to his USP, Punit brought to the runway eco-friendly techniques and silhouettes. Black, dry henna and buttercup dominated the colour palette for the collection. Punit choose intricate Amla embroidery, mirror work and dori work to add glamour to the ensembles that are perfect for the bride’s wardrobe.
From an all black, heavily embroidered skirt and shirt, which opened the show, Punit’s collection featured maxi dresses, lehengas, saris, bandhani, kaftans, trapeze tops with skinny pants and an eye-catching jacket teamed with a full-flared skirt and shirt. Stripes and checks also made an appearance and blended beautifully with the concept of the collection.
Shilpa Shetty turned showstopper for Punit Balana and made head turns. She ruled the ramp in a pastel shade shimmering ghagra with a dazzling mirror work halter choli, accessorised with latkans and a potli bag.

Label DiyaRajvvir’s festive collection “Rosette” was all about romance that aims at lasting forever. The brand’s unique leitmotif was the hand painted story, which pointed to abstract roses created on feminine, flowing, silk organza and suiting material.
The collection was inspired by Victorian aesthetics which was combined with stylish fashion. Garments were in bright, festive shades of berry, mauve, dusty rose and blush, embellished with vintage beadwork.
Romantic silhouettes made their mark on the runway in the form of long flowing satin skirts teamed with bikini corsets, the body-con dress topped with a sheer floor-length robe. The collection featured 3-piece set comprising of shorts, jackets with balloon sleeves and a bustier, gown with an ornate waistband that revealed pure elegance and pant suits, mini skirts, pleated palazzos, pussy-bow style blouses and belted tunics completed the festive look Lakme Fashion Week.
Hot and sexy, Malaika Arora turned show stopper in a red plunging neckline ruffle blouse paired with a high-slit long skirt.
