Italian luxury brand, Dolce and Gabbana extend its apparel sizes to 22 UK. Apparently, it is the first fashion luxury house to extend its sizes in various ranges. Last year sports brand Nike introduced plus-size mannequins as an initiative to promote big sizes and now the luxury fashion house has come up with the same initiative to dress as many women possible in their plus-size apparel line.
The brand known for its exclusive bags and outrageous apparel is now all set to lit the fire with its plus-size clothing line.
The extension begins with Dolce & Gabbana’s pre-fall assortment, which is on sale currently, and therefore according to sources, the brand has confirmed that it will still cast plus-size models in its campaigns to replicate the move.
Now, the label is revamping its dedication, to the line of work to as many ladies as attainable by extending the variety of its sizes.
According to sources, the designers have claimed, “Extending our clothing size range is a tribute to women, to feminine body shapes and to beauty in its entirety. For us, it was natural to extend the sizes of some clothes of our collections: we have always loved the female silhouette in every size and shape.”
Pieces from the most recent assortment vary from $225 for a shirt to over $8,000 for other dress pieces.
According to sources, last year the brand was criticized for an ad where the critics blasted them for their culturally insensitive video ad, which represented a Chinese lady troubled to eat pasta with chopsticks. The backlash forced them to cancel their show in Shanghai and issue a proper apology.
So this year the brand decided to uplift their position and status in the industry and with the motto to promote big sizes and women. Hence, they have extended their clothing line to UK 22.
