Gaurang Presenting Garam Masala At Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2020

This Valentine's day, on 14th February 2020, Mumbai celebrated the grand event of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020. The show was presented by the Indian designer Gaurang Shah, he showcased a monochrome collection, Garam Masala.

The renowned Indian wear designer, Gaurang Shah came up with his collection "Garam Masala", which brought together Gaurang's black and white collection of 40 garments and gorgeous hairdo inspired by popular Indian spices.

Gaurang And His Journey With Lakme Fashion Week

Gaurang is not new to the Lakme Fashion Week but every time he manages to woe its fan following with his latest fashion trends. All of his collections involves Indian weavers and craftspeople spending hours over a garment or sari, the designer strives to create wearable pieces of art. Last year's designer collection of Lakme Fashion Week was astonishing, as he opted for a special edition of Khadi sarees and used around 600 shades of natural dyes. But this time the show was a whole new level of creativity.

Lakme chose to collaborate with Gaurang Shah and stated "Women across India, across cultures, across ages, across professions are experimenting with hair color. As India's leading salon chain... we have created a collection that celebrates this."

"The ''Garam Masala'' collection adds a fresh twist to hair using familiar colors from our spice baskets. We are very happy to collaborate with Gaurang, celebrated for his craftsmanship with traditional weaves for the contemporary Indian woman. Together we have juxtaposed tradition and modernity - like Garam Masala adds flavor to food, our collection adds sizzle to the look," Pushkaraj Shehnai, CEO, Lakme Lever said in a statement.

About The Event

The designer chose for a color detox, the collection involved detailed weaving techniques, and different colors. Phenomenal actress Tabu was the showstopper and she was seen gracing a Black and golden rich in heritage textiles Kanjivaram lehenga paired up with a saree draped like a dupatta. 

The designer showcased a spectrum of woven textile and jamdani mainstay, done on geometric single and double ikats, paithani, pinhole bandhanis from Bhuj, Banarasi silk,patan patolas, kalamkari, Kota.

The models were seen walking on the stage in two rows, one sporting ivory white and others contemplating it with the blacks. All the major hues of ingredients that go in making the color palette.
