Be ready to witness the products of the collaboration between the two power houses of the Fashion Industry. Sabyasachi and H&M's collaboration announcement will surely give something new to experience in the Fashion Industry. Launching on the 16th of April 2020, 'Wanderlust' collection will present hand-crafted, eclectic travel pieces that will resonate with the modern global nomad wanting to add that “extra” to their wardrobe.
“I am happy to announce the collaboration with H&M, as it gives us the opportunity to spread the Sabyasachi aesthetic to a wider audience in India and worldwide. Having done couture for the majority of my career, it is very exciting to bring that finesse of craft to ‘ready-to-wear’ and create whimsical and fluid silhouettes that bring relaxed sophistication to everyday life.” Sabyasachi.
The collection will be iconic as it takes cues from India’s rich textile, craft, and history, the collection mixes modern and traditional silhouettes with a nod towards athleisure and glam-ping. A key highlight of this collection will be Indian textile and print traditions brought to life by the Sabyasachi Art Foundation, meticulously crafted, embroidery and multicultural silhouettes.
Sabyasachi, hailing from Kolkata, launched his eponymous label in the summer of 1999. Today he has grown the company to encompass couture, ready to wear, fine jewelry and accessories and is a renowned name of the Indian Fashion Industry. The designer has 5 flagship stores across India and has also founded Sabyasachi Art Foundation, a tribute to his artist mother.
“At H&M, we are thrilled to announce our collaboration with iconic Indian designer Sabyasachi, known for his dynamic use of indigenous crafts and textiles - a language so stunning, that it permanently altered the fashion and design landscape of the country.” Ella Soccorsi, Concept Designer at Collaborations & Special collections, H&M.
H&M is a Swedish multinational retail organization, established in the year 1947 and founded by Erling Persson. With a worldwide presence, H&M entered into India in the year 2015 becoming an integral part of the Indian Fashion Industry since then. A retailer chain supplying on-trend clothing, accessories, footwear, swimwear and much more, H&M defines both fast and slow fashion.
It has already in the past collaborated with top designers like Balmain, Versace, Jimmy Choo and many more. This is for the first time that a Fashion Industry giant such as H&M has collaborated with an Indian Fashion Designer.
