The India Couture Week 2019 organized by Fashion Design Council of India in association with Hindustan Times, showcases the collection of ten leading designers in its 12th edition. Collaborating with the luxury partner DLF Emporio along with M.A.C, Swarovski, Visit Monaco, Icons and the jewelry partner Archana Aggarwal’s Timeless Jewelry, the weeklong fashion extravaganza from 22nd July 2019- 28th July 2019 is being held at Taj palace, New Delhi.
The Delhi based designer Amit Aggarwal opened the ICW 2019 showcasing his innovative collection ‘Lumen’. The collection undoubtedly, did smitten everyone present at the show.
A designer who has always brought in a fusion to benefit the environment did not stand back during the ICW 2019 too. The NIFT, Delhi alumnus, graduated in the year 2002 and started his label ‘Amit Aggarwal’ in the year 2012. His collections include haute couture, pret collections and resort wear, he has also worked as an Assistant Designer under Tarun Tahiliani. He sees fashion as a creative project. bringing the most unexpected in a beautifully designed and presentable ensemble to woo his audience and wearers.
At ICW 2019, Lumen was seen playing with hues of gold, silver, ivory accompanied with opaque and metallic colours and a jewel pallet of plum, purple and emerald. The indo-western outfits for both men and women seemed like a tribute to the environment creating a statement of what sustainable fashion can bring to the ramp. His obsession towards geometrical patterns, the surreal and fluidity can be witnessed in his collection that constitutes of recycled polymer strips to integrate patterns of animal and plant anatomy on his outfits.
The collection’s key component was layering, done to create an illusion of colours, Amit Aggarwal’s ‘Lumen’ gives a glimpse of the future of Indian couture and fashion. A part from his farsighted vision, his collection has come to life due to his collaborations with Taani by Tanira Sethi and jewelry association with Narayan Jewels by Ketan and Jatin Choksi.
Not to forget, Kiara Advani, The Kabir Singh actress adorned with a red bridal outfit lehenga connected with the blouse, giving it a look of a saree and lehenga combined, created by the designer was the stunning show stopper of the day. The outfit brought in a new wave of bridal wear, it was light weighted with bold and vibrant red. Her subtle make up and sleek hairdo along with a neckpiece in contrast with her outfit was exceptionally astonishing.
While the women’s wear consisted of a fusion of sarees and dresses, Edwardian Bustles with bridal lehengas , dramatically structured trails with 3D hand done embroidery on gossamer tulle lace and organzas, the men’s wear were well tailored with a touch of classic style in bandh galas and jackets, built with silk, jacquards and hand woven textiles.
His range of both men’s wear and women’s wear is sure to allure the millennial and will be soon available at his flagship stores, Kila Seven Style Mile- Mehrauli and others.
