Abhishek Sharma, spreading magical strokes

Abhishek Sharma came up with his collection “Impressions”, it’s inspired by the broken impressionist brush strokes.

The Indian designer’s collection showcased the different colors on the ramp, the shade card smoothly moved from the first hues of dawns to the dawn sky and forward onto sharp earthy tones. Adding more glam to the outfits, Abhishek brought in traditional hand embroidery, gorgeous patchwork along with delicate silk thread work and brilliant eye-catching embellishments. There was a presentation of various denim jackets with kat danas and sali work and the beadwork on belts made a classic fashion statement.

The designer was open to all the genre of fashion styles this time, with experimenting from sarees, lehengas, jumpsuits to shorts and hoodies. The use of cloth materials like chiffon, georgettes, linens, and denim were noticed in a variety of ways on the ramp. The necklines ranged from halter necks, plunging and backless that gave an appealing look to the garments.

The unique collection of garments presented by Abhishek Gupta was quite successful in leaving “impressions” on the audience. Suman Rao, Miss India World 2019 sealed the show wearing an alluring draped embroidered dress.

Anurag Gupta the shiner designer and his collection ‘Kalanamak’

Anurag Gupta’s collection the “Kalanamak” had a sombre muted color story at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020. The collection arises from the kalanamak the finest rice quality in India, which holds a huge History going back to 600 BC, the designer presented the motifs of the stalks and sheaves of rice on the garments as decorations at strategic points. The silhouettes at moments were boxy and featured double-breasted pinafores, regular shirts, floppy long-sleeved dresses along with drawstrings, intriguing cropped jackets with oversized or narrow collars/ lapels, asymmetric lapelled waistcoats, parallel trousers and overdresses.

The historical motifs decorated on sleeves, hemlines and placement embroidery to intensify the look of ensembles. The colors remained loyal to white, black and grey. Men’s wear collection had basic white kurtas with minimal embroidery, along with denim teamed with loose pants gave a sophisticated vibe. Anurag experimented with the sleeves using pleats. Detailing was gorgeous and precise with patched pockets on dresses or jackets and notched lapels were the ultimate choice.

Anurag Gupta’s ‘Kalanamak’ collection although was inspired by the history but the outfits were completely contemporary, aimed at the 21st-century outfits.
