‘Blockbuster Brides’ presented by Lakme Salon showcased collections by Anushree Reddy and Arpita Mehta at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019. It was a showcase filled with grandeur of makeup, hairstyles and bridal creations.

Pushkaraj Shenai, CEO, Lakmé Lever adds, “Bollywood has always set the bar for fashion & makeup trends. With many of the biggest stars tying the knot in the last year, brides-to-be are looking to add a Bollywood twist to their wedding looks. Drawing inspiration from this, we at Lakmé Salon have curated a glamorous list of looks-recreating some of the most iconic wedding moments in contemporary Bollywood movies. Our collaboration with Anushree and Arpita for LFW will let real-life brides bring their silver-screen dreams to reality.”

The overall look and feel and even the mood was set to match a perfect Indian wedding. Beats by Nankhathai band Noor Mohammed from Gulalwad set the ramp perfectly for the showcase.

ANUSHREE REDDY’S BRIDAL WEAR

Anushree Reddy’s collection was inspired by the nature, flowers and the fragrance, it was an ode to flowers and their natural fragrance that was well set on the ramp through the collection named ‘Gulaal’.

The collection ‘Gulaal’ represented femininity and romance in soft sheer fabrics for the show. The ramp was filled with lush silk organza, Chanderi and fine tulle that was turned into mesmerising creations. Regal lehengas, sensuous cholis and swirling dupattas floating down the ramp on graceful models.

The hues inculcated and integrated in the collection were cohesive to the theme and inspiration. Shades of mauve danced with warm apricot, while striking mulberry played hide and seek with shadow grey along with crimson, seashell, teal and midnight blue. It was a classic colour palette that highlighted Anushree’s inspirations and ethos.

The mughal era’s geometric patterns were redone with glass beads and zardosi. The patterns had hints of Pietre Dura with peonies, hydrangeas and poppy flower motifs. The exquisite embroidery was at times magnificently ornate as it was splashed lavishly on the garments. Each ensemble was impeccably tailored and finished with love and care.

The stunning lehenga, choli, dupatta, trio were a visual beauty. Gowns floated down with the most beautiful embellishments while the capes revamped Indian bridal wear. The two entries in bright red were a glorious gown and fantastic lehenga, choli and dupatta. The cholis were bold, while the giant tassels created a great detailing for the backless blouses and exquisite lehengas.

Ananya Pandey walked in a glittering ivory lehenga, choli and dupatta to the peppy music for the designer Anushree Reddy.
