The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/ Festive 2019, organized by Lakme and IMG Relaince Pvt Ltd, saw its opening on the 20th of August 2019 in Mumbai with the celebrity loved designer Manish Malhotra. An Indian fashion designer who launched his label in 2005, showcased his new collection 'MAAHRUMYSHA'. Along with it he also launched 'Love and Care' a range of expert care wash products in partnership with HUL. Love & Care that comprises of the expertise and R&D of HUL along with the love for fabrics of Manish Malhotra will offer a range of fabric solutions for silks, cottons and woolens.
His label MANISH MALHOTRA, offers bridal wear, couture and men's wear inspired by workmanship and craftsmanship of rural India. He brings the age old craft in a modern look to today's consumers. He has been awarded with innumerous awards. Designer Manish Malhotra stepped into the Bollywood industry by designing clothes for Juhi Chawla in the movie 'Swarg' in 1990's.
He has designed clothes for yester years and today's bollywood celebs. A couturier, costume designer and entrepreneur Manish Malhotra has just recently launched a beauty cosmetic line in collaboration with MyGlamm - A Haute Couture Makeup consisting of gloss, nail paints, eye shadows and much more.
His collection MAAHRUMYSHA, reflects his love for fabrics, Indian weddings and festive occasions. The collection is inspired by beauty which is above all. The show was divided into three sections silk in jewel tones, wool from Kashmir and cotton in pastels. Apart from this velvet and tulles were also a part of the collection. He moved away from the traditional tones bringing out the bridal wear in a modern look.
Hues of whites, ivory, beige, ochre, grey, salmon and his signature shade golden made the collection come to life. It aimed at lighter occasion wears meant for destination weddings. It is more in vintage tones which reflects timelessness in a millennial outlook.
MAAHRUMYSHA comprised of lehengas, gowns, shararas, sarees, crop tops and skirts for women along with bandh galas, jackets, kurtas and trousers for men. The outfits were adorned with embroidery, sequins with beautiful floral motifs and ruffles.
A star studded show, many Bollywood celebrities were seen cheering for the ace designer Manish Malhotra - Khushi Kapoor, Karan Johar, Karishma Kapoor, Ishan Khattar, Mrunal Thakur, Aparshakti Khurana, Yash Birla, Ananya Birla, Sophie Choudhary and many more.
The show was closed by none other than the Bollywood actress and diva Katrina Kaif, who walked the ramp in a dark heavy embellished velvet Lehenga with a simple blouse. The actress debuted in Bollywood in the year 2003 through the movie Boom. She kept her overall look minimal with nude makeup, wavy hair and smokey eyes.
The show was sure a delight to watch.
