The latest fashion industry news, the international fashion brand, also available in India– Givenchy has announced that designer Matthew M Williams will be the brand’s new Creative Director.

About The Announcement And Designer

In the fashion industry news, everyone’s currently talking about how after an incredible journey of the powerhouse designer Clare Waight Keller, the international fashion brand in India– Givenchy on the 16th of June 2020 announced its new Creative Director- 1017 ALYX 9SM founder Matthew M Williams.

The latest fashion news is all about this announcement that stated that the 34-year-old Californian designer will relocate to Paris to pursue his first major Creative Director role at the international fashion brand in India and all across the globe- Givenchy. 

The criteria behind the appointment and selection were not clarified by Givenchy, an international fashion brand in India and other parts of the world, but considering that LVMH would be keen to add personal friend Williams to its roster. 

The designer earlier has also partnered with LVMH- owned Dior for specialty accessories under the supervision of Williams colleague, Kim Jones. 

Matthew M Williams Early Career 

It’s in the front pages of fashion industry news that Williams 1017 ALYX 9SM occasionally shortened to ALYX was founded in 2015. Designer Williams’ ALYX is backed by the Italian powerhouse Slam Jam and the fashion industry news has witnessed the explosive growth of ALYX in the past several years. After achieving LVMH prize finalists status in the year 2016, ALYX’s menswear line debuted the following year 2017 and gradually grew to surpass the womenswear line in the fashion world. 1017 ALYX 9SM is most celebrated for its signature rollercoaster buckle equipped accessories that in the past have also graced Dior runways and become big celebrities favorite. Williams label inspires designs mostly from subcultures as diverse as rock climbing and music. It has also collaborated with big brands like Nike, ROA, and Black means in the past.

The designer Williams stated “I am honored to join the House of Givenchy,” he further continued “I am looking forward to working together with its teams, to move it into a new era, based on modernity. In these unprecedented times for the world, I want to send a message of hope, together with my community and colleagues, and intend to contribute towards positive change.”

Williams’ As Creative Director 

In his newly appointed role as Creative Director, the designer will be responsible for much of the tasks such as- developing the creative output of the menswear, womenswear, and accompanying accessories, plus the brand image. The designer will showcase his first collection for the international fashion brand in India and other countries- Givenchy in October.
