The Gen Next designers showcased their collections fresh off the runway with the third edition of ‘Gen Next on the Road’ at multi-designer stores in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi.
It started from FUEL in Mumbai on 29th and 30th August, followed by ANAHITA in Hyderabad on 5th and 6th September and finally at ENSEMBLE in Delhi on the 17th September 2019.
These stores had dedicated sections by the Gen Next batch of LFW WF 19’ – Amaaré by Sahib Bhatia, Anatomy by Gaurav, Little Things Studio by Ankita Srivastava, Zilzom by Stanzin Palmo, Ura Maku by Manjushree Saikia and Noié Noéi by Akanksha Aggarwal.
Sahib Bhatia’s Amaare’s ‘Rule Breaker’ is sleek and structured and is inspired by aboriginal Australian art and architecture. Fabric texturing techniques like pleating, tucks and embroideries have been used in the collection.
Gaurav’s Anatomy, Kadali-Patram is inspired by the sacred evergreen – banana leaf. His collection reflects banana leaves in a way of innovative tailoring, dynamic curves and unexpected drapes. Little Things Studio’s Not So Perfect is for the diverse women made up of Cupro, a vegan silk, handloom Mashru, Modal silk and Chanderi.
Stanzin Palmo’s Zilzom’s collection Between the Earth and Sky is a visual treat of the flora, fauna and nature of Ladakh. The silhouettes are inspired by their traditional dress Goncha. Her collection is made with a blend of Pashmina, silk, rayon and brocade. Ura Maku’s Dawn to Reality explores timeless silhouettes and impression of handmade textiles by honouring efforts made by the artisans. Comprising of young silhouettes with bold shoulders and dreamy hemlines is Noié Noéi’s collection. The garments reflect a moderate femininity with its own unique identity.
Some of the best names of the fashion industry like Rahul Mishra, Masaba Gupta, Aneeth Arora and many more have been identified and provided with a platform by The Gen Next Program.
