‘The Real Cut’ Showcased Great Fashion And Jewellery On The Ramp At Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019

The show ‘The Real Cut’ was in collaboration with Lakme Fashion Week Winter/ Festive 2019 by Diamond Producer Association. The second edition of ‘The Real Cut’ show featured the winning six diamond jewellery designers of ‘The Real Cut – Season 2’ and showcased their designs at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 along with well known fashion designers Archana Rao, Dhruv Kapoor and Shweta Kapur.

‘Naturality’ the theme aimed on celebrating this billion-year-old miracle of nature through design clearly stating the role of diamonds in enhancing the beauty of couture with their timelessness and brilliance.

The six chosen winners were Dhairyada A Mehta of Vrajlal & Co, Divya Gupta of Tanishq (Design Excellence Centre), Ketan Chokshi of Narayan Jewellers, Roni Adhikari of Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, Sonali Sheth of Sphere, Taruna Kamdar of Anmol Jewellers they were judged and handpicked by an esteemed panel of judges from the jewellery and fashion fraternity in Mumbai at Olive, Bandra. The evaluation parameters ranged from quality, innovation, and marketability to originality and ability of performing and taking businesses to a new height.

The honourable jury comprised of Richa Singh – Managing Director at Diamond Producers Association, Supriya Dravid – Editor, Elle India, Samyukta Nair – Owner – Clove the store, Bombay Bustle and Jamvar, London, Sohiny Das – Grain Consulting, Jaspreet Chandok – Vice President and Head of Fashion, IMG Reliance and Sonal Chauhan – Bollywood actress & Model.

Richa Singh, Managing Director, Diamond Producers Association (DPA), said, “It has been a treat to watch the perfect blend of diamonds with fashion on the runway. Today, these young and emerging diamond jewellery designers have showcased to consumers the integral role diamond jewellery plays to complement and elevate contemporary everyday fashion wear. Our continued association with Lakmé Fashion Week should ensure that these designs become trend setters for the year. We are very happy that, only after two seasons, the Real Cut is developing into the perfect platform for young turks to unite diamonds and fashion in India!”

Jaspreet Chandok, Vice President and Fashion Head- IMG Reliance said, “We are thrilled to once again associate with DPA as it opens the doors for the entire diamond jewellery design community to interface with Lakmé Fashion Week. It also provides young talent in an allied industry the leverage of the premier fashion event in the country and we hope some of our discoveries make a major mark in the industry going forward.”

ARCHANA RAO WITH DIVYA GUPTA OF TANISHQ (DESIGN EXCELLENCE CENTRE) AND SONALI SHETH OF SPHERE ON THE RAMP AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2019

A graduate from NIFT she acquired an AAS Degree from Parsons School of Design, New York. Her sub-brand ‘Frou-Frou by Archana Rao’ is known for creating stylish ready-to-wear, accessories and stationery.

Archana’s collection “A Mountain Story” at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 showcased classic silhouettes with amazing embroidery details. The inspiration was the flora of the Nilgiri Hills, that includes old cottages, tribal craft, Eucalyptus leaves and the greenery.

Along with Archana Rao was Divya Gupta, a National Institute of Fashion Technology graduate, from Tanishq (Design Excellence Centre) who said, “Tanishq has created this range of everyday diamond jewellery as an ode to today’s women, celebrating their inner strength as well as mesmerizing charm through the everlasting brilliant diamonds. Our range of finely crafted jewellery provides them elegant new reasons to indulge. It is for women who shine bright, wherever they go and whatever they do.”

Sonali Sheth of Sphere Design Jewellery has won a lot of jewellery designing accolades and is from IIM Ahmedabad said, “Being a fine jewellery designer lets me be a part of some of the most treasured moments and objects in people’s lives – all while working on what I’m passionate about! I think that’s the most fulfilling part and of course the awards and recognition doesn’t hurt! Diamond jewellery is a form of wearable art for me where the medium consists of some of the most precious materials on the planet! Allure, conquer the day with glam, is an enchanting collection of daily wear diamond jewellery that adds a perfect potion of glamour to the mundane chores of everyday life! Meticulously handcrafted by our artisans, and studded with beautiful pear shape diamonds, this collection aims to charm the wearer and prepare her to conquer the day, head on!”

Archana Rao’s collection was fluid, relaxed and trend setting with a serene presentation of pastoral pictures. Divya Gupta from Tanishq (Design Excellence Centre) and Sonali Sheth of Sphere Design Jewellery completed the look with exquisite diamond jewellery designs.

DHRUV KAPOOR’S CREATIONS AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2019 WITH TARUNA KAMDAR OF ANMOL JEWELLERS AND RONI ADHIKARI OF VUMMIDI BANGARU JEWELLERS

For The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/ Festive 2019 designer Dhruv Kapoor broke the gender norms by bringing out powerful constructions through empowered weaves of fabrics creating an over all arresting feeling.

The garments were versatile and fluid giving the audience a freedom of mixing and matching. Taking the 1960’s as his inspiration, he brought to the ramp psychedelic prints in a varied colour palette. The silhouettes remained devoted to comfort and style with oversize baggy shapes making an impact. With washed linen and tartan checks as fabrics including an edgy tailoring and sharp construction the collection was immensely energetic.

With Dhruv Kapoor’s inspirations from the 1960’s, he was coupled with 119-year-old Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (VBJ) from Chennai who are known for their traditional inspirations. Roni Adhikari from VBJ added, “Diamond jewellery designing is my passion. I’m really happy when I get to see a smile, real and rare as a diamond, on my customer’s face when they wear my jewellery. I always see jewellery designing as a precious fine art and I’ll be completely satisfied when every piece of my jewellery will be treated as a piece of art.”

Further, enhancing Dhruv Kapoor’s collection with the pret collection was Taruna Kamdar of Anmol Jewellers who said, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend & today’s modern woman is always looking for the right diamond jewellery to accentuate & complete her look. ‘Viviera’, our Pret collection is a luxe range of everyday classics, dedicated for everyday celebrations. It is a reflection of the urbane career-oriented, independent & confident women of today’s times who love to celebrate life & live every moment of it to the fullest.”

SHWETA KAPUR’S LABEL 431-88 AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2019 WITH DHAIRYADA A MEHTA OF VRAJLAL & CO, AND KETAN CHOKSHI OF NARAYAN JEWELLERS

The ‘Collection 14’ by designer Shweta Kapur’s label 431-88 created a fashionable look at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/ Festive 2019.

Her collection’s aesthetics were inspired by the Masai Mara region where she had travelled. Offering a choice of smart travel ready options, the garments were ideal for women on the move.

Talking about women on the move, Dhairyada Mehta from Vrajlal & Co. added, “Fashion is in every facet and is unique to everyone, just like diamonds. Diamonds are one-of-a-kind & precious gifts of earth, which is what gives the wearer the feeling of being extraordinary and special every day. The range of daily wear luxury jewellery from Vrajlals harps on this very aspect of being real, unique and rare.”

Ketan Chokshi of Narayan Jewellers said, “Being raised in a family which is in the jewellery industry for five generations and then taking it up as a profession, I am very close to my jewellery, especially diamonds.” The 3 rd generation jeweller who has graduated from Gemmological Institute of America further said, “I am very emotional about my designs. The sense of rarity forever appeals to me. I love playing with designs suited for everyday pret wear and the same can be witnessed in our new collection.”

Her collection reflected elegance across the globe. Further accentuating the looks were the pret jewellery from the house of Vrajlals and Co. and Narayan Jewellers which were fine examples of daily wear diamond jewellery.
