Saturday, 12th October, saw the grand finale of Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week Spring/Summer ‘20. The final day saw the “Young Guns” category (A platform created by FDCI that provides an encouraging space for new and emerging talent to showcase their designs), saw designers like Bareek, Countrymade, Notebook, and Sameer Madan.

Here’s what each of one of them showcased on the fashion runway:-

  1. COUNTRYMADE
Beyond the Clouds by Countrymade

Countrymade is a noteworthy label that showcased intriguing pieces in a collection that focused on the latest fashion trends in menswear. From eclectic designs to unconventional patterns, Countrymade’s collection easily stood out on the last day.

Here’s the inspiration and story behind their collection:

Beyond the Clouds

A nocturnal journey of a star, who shines bright, all night, every night.

When the sun goes down, and off we go to sleep,

Stars shine at night, beyond the clouds, in the sky too deep.

One glimpse of them shooting, in our lucid dreams, is all that we plead.

Lest we forget a star must fall, to make our wishes come true, indeed.

Not that a Solider ever dies, he never grows older.

He’s up there, look from the eyes of the beholder.

With Nerves of Steel, like a lightning thunder,

He protects us all from the dangers down under.

The Avenger of Cosmos, the DNA of bravery,

lets the world relish its sweet and savoury.

Earns his stripes with hustle, hardwork and grind,

Hardship continues but for the ones he leaves behind.

Humans or Stardust, are all made of Carbon,

But only the chosen few shine in the sky garden.

A soldier too falls on the ground but touches the sky with glory,

The rest of us just live on, must tell the world their story.

  1. NOTEBOOK

Notebook was founded in 2018 by a minimalist designer – Niharika Gupta.

Notebook by Niharika Gupta

Her fascination towards utility clothing came from her early school days spent in uniforms. The whole idea of how one thoughtful design can work for many different body types. Notebook takes inspiration from school uniforms, using fabric as a paper for re-engineering silhouettes. After graduating in Design, Niharika had the opportunity to design for various minimalist labels that further enhanced her technical skills.

Here’s what the collection was about – Workwear and casuals inspired by Indian and Middle East. Their SS20 celebrated the millennials’ spirit of achieving a sense of balance in their lives. The collection is a balance of sophisticated formal cuts and utilitarian details with pops of colour and comfort keeping in mind the latest fashion trends or creating fashion trends through the garments.

  1. SAMEER MADAN
“I Was Here” by Sameer Madan

A label to watch out for, SM is shorthand for rising talent Sameer Madan whose debut collection “I Was Here” has already received impressive reviews. With his edgy aesthetics and accent on elegance, SM promises refinement with sharply tailored pieces. His current focus is silhouette flattering eveningwear for women with a zany take on shirts for men. His Shiva-inspired prints are full of spirit, yet subtle enough in their style.

SM is a brand that embodies Power as its Prerogative. The Brand aims to metamorphosize basic into boisterous, simple into sophisticated. Sameer Madan’s agenda is to transform beauty into simplicity by engulfing complexity in a way which looks subtle.

Here’s what his latest collection ‘TIME CAPSULE’ was about – SS’20 encapsulates or rather entraps a periodic transition. This Spring/Summer he makes the old meet the new, concocting a melange of renaissance with the cosmopolitan; an emotion as timeless as each individual design. The renegade of fusion folklore as he embarks upon this reminiscent journey and contribute a little token to the “time capsule”.

  1. BAREEK
“Intergalactic Luum” by Bareek

Bareek is a New Delhi based sustainable design label. Bareek uses handwoven fabrics, natural dyes derived from recycled PET bottles. It fuses Indian craft techniques with sustainable materials to create modern wardrobe mainstays. For LMIFW SS20, they showcased their line called the “Intergalactic Luum”, which is prêt-à-porter in nature and is a distinct sub-label which will be placed in ‘Bareek Essentials’ line that focuses on menswear consisting of fabrics like organic cotton and khadi.

Amalgamating distinct craft elements, namely Jamdhani from West Bengal and Ikat from Telangana, the pieces propel straight out of a self-written graphic sci-fi novel titled “Intergalactic Luum”.

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) commenced with their Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week, in association with EbixCash, Spring-Summer 2020 from October 9 to 12, 2019.
