The Lakme Fashion Week served as a platform for many old and new designers to showcase their creations. Some designers also made their debut on the runway one such label was ‘Kaveri’ by Kaveri Lalchand.
Making a debut at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 season, the label believes in body positivity and loving yourself the way you are. This Chennai-based brand was launched in 2011, specializing in linen textiles and chose to use them for the winter/ festive season too.
The brand brought out their tag line, ‘Everyday Beautiful’ with 8 exquisite looks, each telling a great fashion story. The collection “Festive Dreams’ was a visual treat, featuring linen, Chantilly lace, organza and linen knits. The 8 looks were as follows.
The first look Dandelion Dreams had a burst of floral embroidery with pearls, exquisite Chantilly lace in shades of white, blue and grey at times with gold prints.
The Vintage Garden offered laser cut leaves, smocking and lace detailing in dusty rose, sky, ecru and off-white.
A Million Stitches – A Galaxy of Stars revealed a sprinkling of roses on peasant styles in shades of mulberry, wine and rose.
The Victoria line featured tiny buttons, high collars and feminine petticoats in oyster and light Chateau rose tones.
A Hint. A Shade. A Tone. A Tint used organza and sheer linen as the base for 3D floral appliqués on jackets, layered dresses and even saris.
The Golden Dot was all about capes, drapes, kaftans, tunics, and dresses accessorised with scarves in shades of burgundy, iron and steel with hints of gold.
Kintsukuroi inspired by the Japanese art of repairing broken patterns, featured kimono like creations in earthy shades with large gold splashes.
One By One featured screen-printed linen on hand constructed knit garments. The rough and the smooth of the layered creations had a gentle golden sheen.
The graceful Shabana Azmi closed the show for the debut designer in a black and white layered kurta paired with a pink pleated dupatta with white frills.
“SHEY” by ‘TISA’
“SHEY” by ‘TISA’ featured multiple in-trend clothing options for men, at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019.
The collection was inspired by the breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh and its rich minimalistic way of living. Using organic yarns, tie and dye techniques, stripes and checks, the embellishments on all silhouettes were kept to a minimal, allowing the garments to speak for themselves.
The creations varied from bundgalas, kurtas and jackets to sheer scarves, allowing each individual to make his own style statement. Layering was the highlight in every ensembles and earthly textures were seen in subtle colours like grey, blue, olive green, peach, black and white.
Double layered kurtas and unconventional hemlines enhanced the style quotient of each creation. The blue bundgala Jodhpuri teamed with pants, and asymmetric layered kurta were head turners.
Vijay Varma looked dapper as he closed the show in an all-black kurta and churidar, teamed with a sequined jacket perfect for the festive season.
