What Is Vegan Skincare All About?

It is quite easy to wrap your head around a vegan diet, however, the idea of natural vegan skincare can be a bit confusing. Is it similar to cruelty-free skincare? Are there any specific vegan ingredients that should be avoided?

Several questions come along with the rising trend of adopting veganism. Read on to know everything about the best vegan skincare tips and products and determine whether it's worth trying.

What Is Veganism?

The term 'Vegan' was originated in the year 1944 by a small group of vegetarians who left the Leicester Vegetarian Society in England to come up with an all Vegan Society. The Vegan society chose not to consume eggs, dairy products, or any other products that were originated from animals, in addition to abstaining from meat, as do vegetarians.

The term vegan was formed by combining the first three and last two letters of vegetarian.

Today, veganism is defined as a manner of living that attempts to prohibit all forms of animal exploitation and cruelty, be it clothing, food, or any other purpose.

What Is Vegan Skincare?

In general, vegans consume a diet free of animal products and by-products such as cheese or milk. Much like these dietary regulations, luxury vegan skincare also prohibits animal-derived ingredients when producing skincare products.

In simple words, natural vegan skincare products do not include any ingredient produced from an animal or animal byproduct. This implies that traditional ingredients like honey, beeswax, keratin, and lanolin are not used in vegan products. In most cases, vegan products even drive residue of animal byproducts that are ethically sourced.

Difference Between Vegan And Cruelty-Free Skincare

Many people assume that if a product is vegan it has not been tested on animals, however, this may not always be true. Unless it is stated on the product packaging, there are chances that a luxury vegan skincare product might have undergone some animal testing. To ensure this is not the case, always look for the leaping bunny logo on the packaging. The Leaping Bunny Logo happens to be printed on certified cruelty-free products to indicate that they have not been tested on animals.

Benefits Of Using Vegan Skincare Products

Benefits Of Using Vegan Skincare Products

Switching to vegan skin care products is like adding positivity to your regular skincare routine in summer. Here are some of the major benefits of using the best Vegan Skincare products.

  • They are better for your skin

Most skincare products available in the market are harmful to your skin and contain sulfates and parabens. Vegan skincare products are produced using natural ingredients that are gentle on your skin. These products are usually formed from plants which ensure that you get the most benefits from them.

  • They Don't Harm The Environment

As vegan skincare products do not contain any animal by-products in them, they are competitively less harmful to the environment. Beauty or skincare products that have animal by-products in them lead to several environmental problems. Using vegan products is an excellent way to giving back to nature.
