Zac Posen brings 3D Printing to the MET Gala: Combining technology with art, Zac Posen has changed the face of fashion at this year's most happening fashion event. Zac is an American fashion designer that took the fashion world by storm at this year’s Met Gala with his 3D printed designs.
From Deepika Padukone to Jourdan Dunn, many A-list stars went with Zac Posen for their camp looks. To nail this year's Met Gala theme, Zac Posen in collaboration with proto labs brought the latest innovation in fashion to the Pink Carpet.
Katie Holmes, an American actress, wore a whimsical Zac Posen custom piece. The outfit was a mermaid style dress, layered in the shades of purple accentuated with 3D printed palm fronds on the collar.
Holmes kept the rest of her look subtle with a tied bun and light makeup to enhance the look. She accessorized with a small white jeweled clutch that added a touch of grace to the attire.
Next was Jourdan Dunn, who wore a masterpiece by Posen. The model transformed into a rose with a metallic burgundy toned dress. The dress had a titanium frame embellished with 21 plastic rose petals, that were 3D printed, to create the look of the flower of love. The stunner of the evening kept it classy with maroon lips and straightened hair.
Out of Zac’s five outfits, the look that stole the night was definitely Nina Dobrev's jaw-dropping bustier that took everyone by surprise. She wore a mini flared dress by Posen with a flared skirt that looked like an upside-down rose and was embellished with two tiny wings.
She paired the outfit with sparkly silver heels. Nina sported an updo with a black ribbon and diamond leaf-shaped earrings. She kept the makeup with winged liner and peach red lips. Nina nailed the Met Gala looking like a modern-day Tinkerbell!
Julia Garner, who plays Ruth Langmore in the Netflix crime drama Ozark, also went with a Zac Posen original. Her headpiece was the standout element of her outfit and was also crafted using a 3D printer.
The large vine-like headpiece featured leaf and berry embellishments. Meanwhile, her gown was crafted in lamé with an ombre effect of silver to gold. She finished the look with short tight curls and beautiful red lips.
Zac Posen took to social media to showcase his work and the time it took to create each design. A first for the pink carpet, he brought the best of technology and fashion together at the Met Gala 2019.
From Deepika's Barbie look to Nina Dobrev's bustier, Zac’s 3D print dresses were definitely the highlight of the night and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!
